We knew it was inevitable, so there will be no surprises that Mrs Beyoncé Knowles-Carter would clean up at the 2017 / 59th Grammy Awards. With 9 nominations for her controversial, Internet breaking album, Lemonade and songs from it. Not far behind her, come British pop singer Adele, Rihanna and rapper Drake.
Lemonade the visual album caused much discussion about the singer’s marriage to rapper/businessman husband Jay Z. It also took Beyonce into unchartered waters with tracks like Formation which explored race, politics and visually explored police brutality and the New Orlean’s floods.
Adele who made an impactful return to the music business after breaking for motherhood, is nominated in the major categories alongside Beyonce. Adele is nominated for 5 awards. Drake (Views) and Rihanna (Anti) are one behind Beyoncé with 8 nominations each.
Popular newcomer Chance the Rapper is up for 7 nominations in 5 categories.
The Grammy’s will air in February 2017. Unfortunately 5 time brilliant Grammys host LL Cool J, will be replaced by presenter James Corden.
