Royal Television Society 2016 Bursary Programme Revealed – Includes TV Production, Journalism & Technology Funding

The RTS offers two bursary schemes each year to undergraduates from lower income backgrounds intending to pursue a career in television. As well as offering a helping hand to those wanting to study television production, they are also keen to encourage undergraduates studying computing or engineering who might consider a career in the technical side of the television industry. Bursary students receive mentoring and placement opportunities in the industry, in addition to other benefits.

AGED 5 and 13? Enter Radio 2 ‘500 WORDS’ Competition. Malorie Blackman Will Be A Judge. Deadline 7pm Thursday 25 February 2016

500 WORDS the writing competition returns for the sixth year, and children around the country aged between 5 and 13 years of age are encouraged to get creative and send in their amazing stories by 7pm on Thursday 25 February.

The competition asks children in the UK aged 13 and under to compose an original work of fiction using no more than 500 words. Entries are in two categories: 5-9 years and 10-13 years. Budding young writers have until 7pm on Thursday 25 February to submit their stories.

The Northern Writers’ Awards 2016 are now open for entry until 11pm, Wednesday 3 February 2016. The awards offer £40,000 in cash prizes, mentoring and support to talented writers based in the North of England.

Northern Writers’ Awards are for work-in-progress and are available to writers at all stages of their careers. New awards for 2016 include a Channel 4 television award for prospective writers of children’s drama, as well as a new award for students and graduates of Northumbria University.
