The Blue Elephant is delighted to be able to offer four week-long residencies to emerging artists, thanks to funding from the Idlewild Trust. These residencies are for the performing arts, particularly theatre and dance, to provide research and development time.
The offer is:
- 5 days space in Blue Elephant’s Theatre (Monday to Friday, 10am – 6pm) for research and development of a new piece. These weeks will likely be in January 2018.
- £350 bursary towards the expenses of those taking part
- Artistic, marketing, press and fundraising mentoring
- Some technical support and the opportunity to present a showcase in our professional theatre
There are four residencies on offer and we would love them to support work in its early stages of development. It doesn’t have to be completely new, however.
We are especially interested in hearing from artists from diverse backgrounds, from those who would use our support to attempt to gain further funding and from those who would like to build a relationship with Blue Elephant Theatre.
The Idlewild Trust focuses on supporting emerging young artists at the beginning of their careers and as such, we have questions about how long a company has been established and/or how long a lead applicant has been out of training/education.
Applications should only come from UK-based artists with priority given to London-based artists.
Please complete the application form by August 7th – apply here.
After you submit your application, we may get in touch with you to ask for more information or to clarify anything we are unsure of.
If you would like an application form posted to you or to access it in a different format, please contact: Niamh@blueelephanttheatre.co.uk | 02077010100.
