Award-winning Director/Producer Bernard Kordieh will show his latest short film at the Hollyshorts Film Festival…

Hot off the trail of festival success for his first short film Squares, Bernard Kordieh, heads off to Hollywood this August for the world premiere of his latest atmospheric and stylishly dramatic short film Melody to compete at the Academy Award qualifying HollyShortsFilm Festival (9th – 18th Aug 2018).

Melody stars British actress and US Star, Maisie Richardson-Sellers (who made her big screen debut in Star Wars: The Force Awakens) also best known for her role in the hit CW superhero series Legends of Tomorrow. The film also features up-and-coming UK talent, model-turned-actor Dudley O’Shaughnessy, famously known for appearing in Rihanna’s We Found Love music video, also appeared in White Colour Black (2016), The Fields (2012) and Montana (2014).

Kordieh gained critical acclaim at international festivals for his groundbreaking short film, Squares, including London Independent Film Festival and Philip K Dick Festival in New York. The film which starred Antony Acheampong (The Huntsman: Winter’s War (2016) & The Legend of Tarzan (2016)) and Aaron Fontaine (Hollyoaks (2014) & Venus vs. Mars (2012)) went on to win 12 Awards, including Best Director at LA Short Film Festival, and Best Screenplay & Best Cinematography at the Ouchy Fim Festival in Switzerland.

Written, Directed, and Produced by Kordieh himself, the film is described as a snapshot coming-of-age drama that explores one’s notion of self; like nothing else.

“Melody is a hedonistic film about relationships, adventure, love and inner mental conflict. It centers on a dynamic friendship where everything is not what it seems”, said Kordieh. “The cast and crew put in a great effort in making this project a success and we are all looking forward to showing it to the world”.

Shot in the backdrops of London and Brighton, United Kingdom, the film also captures the cities virtues in the night, revealing the best and worst of its dwellers.

Melody was filmed in the June of 2017, and shot on an Arri Alexa with Zeiss Super Speeds Mk Iii Lenses. Melody will be released after its festivals tour.

Melody will showcase at the Hollyshorts film festival showcases the top 40- minutes or less short films from around the globe. The event includes screenings, networking events, and various panel and forums. Categories include Short Animation, Short Live Action, Short Documentary, Music Video, Webisode, Commercials, Youth Film and Digital Microbudget.
