Chiwetel Ejiofor, Harry Melling and Veronica Ngo board Netflix and Skydance media’s, The Old Guard.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball, 2000 and Beyond The Lights, 2014) is based on the graphic novel series created by author Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernández. Prince-Bythewood also adapted the screenplay with Rucka.
The Old Guard tells the story of a small covert group of immortal mercenaries who must fight to keep their team together when they discover the existence of a new immortal and their extraordinary abilities are exposed.
Ejiofor’s character has yet to be announced. He will soon be heard voicing ‘Scar’ in the Disney live-action production of The Lion King. He recently made The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind his feature directorial debut for Netflix which tells the true story of William Kamkwamba who at the age of 13 built a windmill to save his village in Malwai. Kiki Layne has also been cast. Layne recently stole the screen in Barry Jenkins produced If Beale Street Could Talk.
