With production currently under way in New York City, co-leads TBB Favourite Cush Jumbo and the fabulous Christine Barananski will be sharing air time with über-legendary British-
American character actor Delroy Lindo (Malcolm X (1992), Crooklyn (1994), Clockers (1995), Get Shorty (1995), Gone in 60 Seconds (2000)) and newcomer Erica Tazel (Justified, 2010-15, Roots, 2016) in the much-anticipated The Good Wife spin-off.
The other big news is the recent announcement that the project has acquired a title at last – The Good Fight! Hmmm. Not too sure about that one…
Still, as previously reported, the new series will pick up one year after the events in the final episode of The Good Wife, as Diane Lockhart (Baranski) joins Lucca Quinn (Jumbo) at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.
Lindo, an Eltham native (by way of Jamaican parents moving to south-east London!) with his rich, smooth intelligent voice, will play attorney Robert Boseman, who adds to Lockhart’s woes, by poaching her associates and clients just as an enormous financial scam, which has destroyed the reputation of her young lawyer mentee, Maia, simultaneously wipes out her savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, her ability to stay in business is threatened, and they join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.
CBS network announced that Lindo’s character “dominates every scene, intimidates every lawyer, and is beloved by every client.”
Executive producers Robert and Michelle King said in a statement. “He needs to look like a Chicago lawyer, but have a Shakespearean facility with language.”
There is no word yet on what role Tazel will play, but she rounds out a cast that also includes Rose Leslie, Sarah Steele, Paul Guilfoyle, and Bernadette Peters.
Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King return as show-runners and executive producers on The Good Fight. Longtime Good Wife director Brooke Kennedy, meanwhile, is set to helm the premiere.
We’ll be watching…
