British Nigerian actress Cynthia Erivo leads the cast of biopic feature ‘Harriet‘.
From Focus Pictures, Harriet is based on the thrilling and inspirational life of an iconic American freedom fighter, telling the extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman’s escape from slavery and transformation into one of America’s greatest heroes. Her courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history.
Erivo leads, and is supported by a cast including Tony award-winning Leslie Odom Jr., musician turned actress Janelle Monae, acting legend Clarke Peters and fellow British actor Zackary Momoh who plays Harriet’s husband.
Erivo dominated the West End and Broadway in her role as Celie in The Color Purple. Going on to win a Tony and Emmy for her performance. More recently Erivo scene stole in Steve McQueen’s all-woman heist adaptation Widows and as a soul singer in Bad Times at the El Royale opposite Jeff Bridges.
