The aim is to encourage current drama school and university students, as well as graduates to stage their works to a paying audience. The festival will take place over 2 weekends in April (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) and will allow for groups with a max of 3 performers to showcase 30minutes of work. A reward system will also be introduced, whereby if the audience pay for 3 tickets, they’ll receive a free ticket to a future show at one these 2 venues.
Making your first steps into staging your own works after higher education can be a tough task. There’s plenty to think about as you’re not only creating and devising your own works but you’re having to bear in mind the marketing and financial aspects of a show.
What the Pub Theatre Festival looks to do is to create a launch pad for the voices of tomorrow. Everyone has to start from somewhere, and with a little support… possibilities can be endless.
In order for performers to be considered, you must submit a bio about yourself and your theatre company, a synopsis of your piece and any other supporting material (video clips/script/photos etc). You must have a finalised idea rather than just an idea you are currently working on.
Submissions close on 31st December.
Submissions are to be made to Lucy Basaba at firstname.lastname@example.org.
