Georgina Campbell Lands US TV Debut as Female Lead In Superman Prequel ‘Krypton’!

Syfy UK, along with David S. Goyer and Warner Horizon Television, have been planning a Superman prequel pilot set on his homeworld of Krypton. It was just announced that Georgina Campbell has been one of the first cast – as the female lead, Lyta Zod!

Based on DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the planet whichsent Kal-El to Earth. His ancestral House of El, ostracised and shamed, compels Superman’s grandfather, the yet-to-be-cast Seg-El, to fight to redeem his family’s honour and save his world from chaos.

Aside from his heroics, he is also embroiled in a clandestine, forbidden romance with Campbell’s Cadet Lyta Zod, a member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general, Alura Zod.

This is the US TV debut for Campbell, who is well known on our screens after winning the BAFTA Television Award for Leading Actress in 2015 for ‘Murdered by My Boyfriend’ (2014), E4’s Tripped (2015), Channel 4’s Flowers (2016) and Sky 1’s After Hours (2016). She will soon be seen in the upcoming season 3 of ‘Broadchurch’ as well as Guy Ritchie’s 2017 feature King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

David S. Goyer and showrunner Damian Kindler executive produce ‘Krypton’ for WBTV and Goyer’s Phantom Four. Colm McCarthy serves as co-executive producer and will direct the pilot from a story and teleplay by Goyer & Ian Goldberg. The pilot will be filmed in Serbia.
