Cameron Mackintosh and Jeffrey Seller have released the first cast members of the highly anticipated Hamilton West End production which will open at the newly refurbished Victoria Palace Theatre, this November.

Giles Terera – (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Book of Mormon, Avenue Q) has been cast as  – Aaron Burr – the third Vice President of the United States.

Rachelle Ann Go (Miss Saigon; Broadway & West End, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables) has been cast as – Elizabeth Hamilton –  the wife of American founding father Alexander Hamilton.

Rachel John (The Bodyguard, Rent, We Will Rock You) has been cast as – Angelica Schuyler sister of Elizabeth Hamilton.

Jason Pennycooke (The Big Life, Memphis) has been cast as both – Marquis de Lafayette – a French aristocrat and military officer who fought in the American Revolutionary War & – Thomas Jefferson – American Founding Father; principal author of the Declaration of Independence and third President of the United States.

Obioma Ugoala (Merry Wives of Windsor, Antony and Cleopatra, The Physicists) has been cast as – George Washington – Founding Father and first President of the United States.

Christine Allado (In The Heights, Here Lies Love, From Here to Eternity) has been cast as both – Peggy Schuyler – Elizabeth Hamilton’s sister & – Maria Reynolds – Wife of James Reynolds, and Alexander Hamilton’s mistress

Tarinn Callender – making his main stage debut has been cast as both – Hercules Mulligan – A tailor and spy during the American Revolutionary War & – James Madison – Founding Father and fourth President of the United States.

Cleve September (Annie Get Your Gun, In The Heights, The Last Days of Troy) has been cast as both – John Laurens – American soldier best known for his criticism of slavery and efforts to help recruit slaves to fight for their freedom as U.S. soldiers & – Philip Hamilton – oldest child of Alexander Hamilton; first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and Founding Father of the United States.

The lead roles for Alexander Hamilton and King George have yet to be revealed.

Created by the multi-award winning Lin-Manuel Miranda Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton, America’s Founding Father. Hamilton was an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the very foundations of the America we know today. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway – the story of America then, as told by America now.

In 2016 Hamilton on Broadway broke records with 11 Tony wins including Best Musical, a Grammy award for Best Musical Theatre album and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Hamilton the production – book, music and lyrics are by Lin-Manuel Miranda, will be directed by Thomas Kail; choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire .


Previews for Hamilton will take place at the Victoria Palace Theatre on 21 November 2017

Official opening night scheduled for 7 December 2017.
