Wins for Dev Patel, Viola Davis and Ava DuVernay’s The 13th.
Snubs for Moonlight and its award faves Mahershala Ali, Barry Jenkins and our very own Naomie Harris who as much as I love Viola, for the Brits Naomie shudda been given it.
Also missed out was Irish Actress Ruth Negga for BAFTA Rising Star.
Nothing for Hidden Figures.
#TBBfriends Dionne Walker & George Amponsah also missed out on Outstanding Debut Brit Film.
So… #TBBsummary BAFTAs kinda typical, not so white, but gets an ah well. They weirdly kept Denzel and Barry out of the top league categories Best Actor and Best Director, they also kinda put Moonlight in Best Original Screenplay, when actually Moonlight is adapted from a play. So technically it couldn’t have won… so it’s a teeny little bit cluster-fuckery.
*** We must note that the winner for Best Short Film went to Home, which of its four producers one is Nigerian British Afolabi Kuti find out more about him here.
Winner of Best Animation Short went to, A Love Story, which one of its creative team includes Nigerian British cinematographer Yinka Edward find out more about him here.*** (Thank you Victoria Thomas)
