The 2018 Sundance London film festival programme has been released with Idris Elba’s directorial debut Yardie getting its UK premiere.
Sundance Film Festival: London returns to Picturehouse Central from 31 May to 3 June, bringing you the best of the annual festival from across the pond.
Priority booking for Picturehouse Members opens on Monday 23 April. General sales open on Monday 30 April.
Yardie directed by Idris Elba (In The Long Run, Luther, Molly’s Game), his first time in the directorial chair, is based on the Victor Headley’s classic novel of the same name.
Set in Jamaica, 1973, and tells the story of when a young boy witnesses his brother’s assassination, a powerful Don gives him a home. Ten years later he is sent on a mission to London. He reunites with his girlfriend and their daughter, but then the past catches up with them.
Starring Aml Ameen (Maze Runner, Beyond the Lights) in the lead role, alongside Shantol Jackson making her feature debut and legendary TV & Film actors Stephen Graham (Save Me, This is England) and Fraser James (Babyfather, Law & Order: UK).
