THE BLACK BRITISH THEATRE AWARDS WERE FOUNDED IN 2019 IN ORDER TO RECOGNISE THE ABUNDANCE OF BLACK TALENT IN BRITISH THEATRE AND TO INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION OF BLACK CREATIVES.

The awards recognise the contribution made by black creatives both on and offstage, with award group categories including a Creatives Group, a Recognition Group, Plays, Musicals, and Achievement Awards.

Last year’s winners included both recent graduates, such as Amara Okereke, and veterans of the theatre world, such as Sharon D. Clarke and Lenny Henry.

All categories are open to public nominations, which close on Monday 3rd August 2020.
