The Orange Tree has a history of producing and developing playwrights at an early stage in their career. Martin Crimp was a member of the theatre’s Writers Group in the 1980s and had his first six plays produced at the theatre.
As part of their commitment to discovering and nurturing extraordinary playwrights of the future, Orange Tree Theatre is recruiting for this year’s Writers Collective which will run alongside Paul Miller’s second season. They are seeking professional writers at an early stage in their career to join the Collective from October 2015.
The writers will meet once a month during the course of the season. The Collective is an opportunity for a group of writers at a similar stage of their development to share skills, techniques and obsessions and to fire up conversations and collaborations. It will be run by Literary Associate Guy Jones and the Resident Director at the National Theatre Studio Mel Hillyard, alongside masterclasses from practitioners making work at the theatre.
Orange Tree Theatre is looking for original and provocative writers of any age who have had at least one play professionally produced.
Interested writers should write to Guy Jones (firstname.lastname@example.org) with a covering letter and a sample of their work (one full-length play they feel best represents them as a writer), their writing CV and details of at least one referee.
Deadline for applications: Friday 25th September, 12pm
