“I knew I wanted to be an actor after I saw The Lion King for the first time when I was about 9, on a school trip… . And then, it’s weird, I saw this amazing show! I mean, it is a great performance and deserves all of its [plaudits]. And I think, seeing all of those actors of colour perform at such a high level like nothing I’d ever seen before, inspired me! I thought, I could do that! I could identify with them! I associated myself with them! And so I was like, I want to do that.”
