Winston Duke captured our hearts as M’Baku in Marvel’s Black Panther (2018).
Now he’s back as goofy dad ‘Gabe‘ in US, Jordan Peele’s follow up to Get Out. UStells the story of Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o) who, accompanied by her husband Gabe, (Winston Duke), son Jason (Evan Alex) and daughter Zora (Shahidi Wright Joseph) returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them.
Though Duke’s M’Baku unexpectedly caught our attention as a sex symbol, as Gabe, he’s less sexy-warrior and more a cute and funny amalgamation of our favourite TV dads. We caught up with him to find out why …
US directed and written by Jordan Peele, also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen, Anna Diop, Elisabeth Moss.
