Last month, we reported that Georgina Campbell had been cast in her US TV debut as the female lead Lyta Zod in Syfy’s Superman prequel pilot ‘Krypton‘. Well, Ann Ogbomo (World War Z) and Aaron Pierre (Tennison) have now also joined the cast as series regulars! They all join the recently announced Cameron Cuffe as male lead Seg-El , who was cast after Campbell!
Ogbomo will play Primus Alura Zod, Lyta Zod’s mother and a leader of Krypton’s military guild. She is an extremely tough and demanding training officer. She has appeared in ITV’s ‘Bouquet of Barbed Wire‘ and the features ‘World War Z‘ and ‘Honeytrap‘, which is currently enjoying its US release. This is her first series regular role in a U.S. television show.
LAMDA graduate Pierre will play Dev-Em, a cadet under the command of Primus Alura Zod. He has appeared in ITV’s Prime Suspect prequel ‘Tennison‘ and Jez Butterworth’s ‘Britannia‘ for Amazon Studios and Sky Atlantic.
Based on DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the planet which sent Kal-El to Earth, where he would become Superman/Clarke Kent. His ancestral House of El, ostracised and shamed, compels Superman’s grandfather, Seg-El (Cuffe), to fight to redeem his family’s honour and save his world from chaos. Aside from his heroics, he is also embroiled in a clandestine, forbidden romance with Campbell’s Cadet Lyta Zod, a member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general, Alura Zod.
Krypton is produced by Phantom Four in association with Warner Horizon Television.
