When entrepreneur Jessica Huie MBE and leading lifestyle/parenting blogger Vicki Psarias ‘Honest Mum’ launched their first Passion into Pounds event in 2016, they had no idea just how enthusiastically London’s women would embrace an event of this nature.

Created to showcase a group of successful women who have navigated a way to earn a living by becoming their own boss, the panel shared openly about the challenge of leaving a well paid corporate job to embark on entrepreneurship, combining parenthood with freelance life and how to get your first client/customer. A packed audience at the British Library were left inspired and motivated to make the leap from simply earning a living to one of fulfilment, financial security and the ability to work from anywhere.

Statistics suggest that 60% of people are unhappy in their jobs and the top reason cited is a lack of “job satisfaction.” Simultaneously, over 600,000 people in Britain started their own business last year, as more and more people reject the idea of having to conform to outdated ways of working, by embracing and implementing what they want to do.

In an age where the online world is ripe with opportunities to build a business, blog or promote freelance services, Jessica and Vicki will introduce a panel of brilliant women willing to share the lessons and advise they have accrued in their journeys so far. The entrepreneurial duo will be joined by Jo Morrell, co-founder of The Pool and former MD of Bauer Publishing, Natasha Courtenay-Smith journalist and author of The Million Pound Blog and publishing guru, Alison Jones. Together they will offer insight and honest advice on how to turn your passion into pounds, do what you love and work on your own terms.

Drawing on the women’s proven experience of taking ideas from concept to market, Jessica and Vicki explain how and when to make the leap from employee to working for yourself, as well as how to leverage the digital space for business success.  Discover how to master blogging and social media, build an authentic personal brand, write a book and get it published, overcome a confidence crisis and stand out in a crowded market. Vicki and Jessica will share their own journeys whilst inviting a feisty panel of some the UK’s most accomplished women to share the stage and impart the gems of their experience in making pounds from their passion, with the audience.

“Going out alone takes courage, and the power of seeing others who have managed despite a whole host of obstacles, reassures us that it is possible. The rewards, are the freedom to work from anywhere, notoriety and utter fulfilment when we find our lane,” said Jessica.

The event will be live streamed to innovation centres in Nigeria and Ghana where entrepreneurs supported by the British Council will be able to enjoy the event.

“I’m so excited that we are hosting this event again, and so aptly to coincide with International Women’s Day. The emails we received after last year’s event explaining the impact our panel’s insight had on attendees, made the hard work truly worth it. Roll on March 9th!” Said Vicki.
