As part of Black Star, the BFI Southbank is currently home to the Separate Cinema Exhibition; this exhibition displays film posters drawn from the most extensive private holdings of African-American film memorabilia in the world, The Separate Cinema Archive®, curated and maintained by archive director John Kisch.
The posters on display, which also appear in the book Separate Cinema: The First 100 years of Black Poster Art, reveal the history of black stardom from early Hollywood to today and include posters for Foxy Brown, In the Heat of the Night, Shaft and many more.
