British Black Stars take centre stage in new Superman prequel series Krypton Coming To E4 Sunday 19th August

British actors Ann Ogbomo, Georgina Campbell and Aaron Pierre all have strong roles in SyFy’s Krypton

New series Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet. Lead character Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) is Superman’s grandfather, who is faced with a life and death conflict. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray and the House of El ostracised, Seg is prompted into action by the arrival of Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos), who’s travelled from present-day Earth to warn Seg of an insidious plot to change the past and prevent the birth of the last son of Krypton – a plot he believes to have been orchestrated by the Super-Villain Brainiac (Blake Ritson). Fighting to redeem his family’s honour and protect the ones he loves, Seg is also entrusted with protecting the future of his legacy – a destiny that will see the birth of the greatest Super Hero ever known.

In amongst all this, 2015 BAFTA award-winner Georgina Campbell (Murdered by my Boyfriend, Black Mirror) plays ‘Lyta Zod’ a member of Krypton’s military guild, who is the daughter of military general, Alura Zod. She’s also secretly in love / involvd with lead character Seg-El.

We last saw Ann Ogbomo as an amazon woman in DC’s 2017 smash hit feature Wonder Woman. In Krypton Ogbomo plays Lyta’s mother ‘Alura Zod’, a no-nonsense military general, whose loyalty for Krypton often overrules her being moved or impressed with her daughter’s risky relationship with Seg-El.

Newcomer Aaron Pierre plays ‘Dev-Em’ another member of Krypton’s military. Also takes his job very seriously, and he has a closeness to Lyta.

Krypton first aired on the SyFy channel in America early this year. It is the first production to be shot in the new Belfast Harbour Studios.

Krypton begins on UK television Sunday, August 19th at 9 pm on E4
