Clare Hope Ashitey Seeks to uncover the truth in Netflix Crime Series, Seven Seconds

This new trailer promises an excellent new crime-thriller series from the Netflix machine, and once again British Black talent takes centre stage.

British Blacktress Clare Hope Ashitey is assistant prosecutor K.J. Harper tasked with the challenge of resolving the case of a young black boy accidentally knocked down and killed by a white policeman. In the aftermath of the event, it’s revealed that there has been an attempt to cover up the cause of the boy’s death. The result? An explosion of racial tension and unrest.

This looks like another strong casting for Ashitey, who successfully pulled off her role as the wife of a black cop accused of murdering a young white boy in the excellent police drama series Shots Fired (2017) starring Sanaa Lathan. She also shared the lead in Channel 5’s unscripted crime/drama series  Suspects (2014 – 2016) which focused on a team of three detectives.

Award-winning super actress Regina King (Southland, American Crime, The Boondocks) plays the murdered boy’s mother Latrice Butler; her husband Isiah Butler (Russell Hornsby – Grimm).

Created by Veena Sud (The Killing, Cold Case) Seven Seconds promises to be a gritty and emotional hit for Netflix – based on the trailer anyway.

Seven Seconds airs on Netflix February 23rd 2018
