Cynthia Erivo gets Critics’ Choice & Golden Globe Best Actress Nomination for Harriet

As the news comes in that Harriet has performed unexpectedly well at the US box office, the nominations are rolling in for Cynthia Erivo.

As award season ramps up and nominations are announced for all the major awards, there is buzz that Erivo could get a coveted Oscar nomination, which, IF she gets one, and IF she wins, would cement her place in history as one of the few EGOT winners (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony). (Making her the 5th Brit to be EGOT’d and the first British Black, British Black African, British Black African Nigerian, Nigerian to do so in the process).

So, at the moment Erivo has been nominated in the Best Actress category for 25th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards taking place January 12th, 2020 and the 77th Golden Globes taking place before that, January 5th 2020. We have yet to hear the nominations for Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA and the Oscars …
