It’s simple, all you need is a name and a face.
Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realising it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.
This live action remake has been met with accusations of ‘white washing’ controversy as the lead characters are not Japanese. Rather, Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars) will play Light Turner / Kira –  the high-school student who discovers the Death Note and ends up becoming a world-famous serial killer. TBB fave Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out; Atlanta; Crown Heights) has been cast as L – A highly intelligent and skilled detective who is set on bringing Light Turner.
