Disney’s The Lion King is looking for an enthusiastic Deputy Head of Lighting to join the backstage team at the Lyceum Theatre.

Job Description
  • Support Head of Lighting in the upkeep, maintenance and operational use of all lighting equipment
  • Deputise for Head of Lighting as required (including organising weekly rota and maintenance, undertaking line management of casual staff and deps)
  • Respond to needs of creative team and demands of show, and work in a professional, co-operative and collaborative manner with colleagues and venue staff to enable positive and supportive solutions
  • Keep detailed documentation of any faulty hired equipment and ensure stock of spare working parts and suitable lamps
  • Liaise with hire companies and external suppliers to ensure collection and delivery are managed effectively
  • Undertake maintenance and housekeeping of lighting equipment to ensure hired equipment is used and maintained to a high standard
  • Maintain and deliver PAT testing and asset management for all lighting equipment
  • Operate the lighting desk for the production in performance and rehearsals
  • Take on duty management or technical roles during performances as required
  • Assist Head of Lighting to ensure safety of all crew, cast, staff and audience members in relation to production lighting
  • Report any unsafe practices, incident or concern regarding Health and Safety
  • Attend Health and Safety meetings and report to Head of Lighting
  • Train and support follow spots and charge hands on their day to day duties
Essential Skills Required
  • Awareness and experience of Health and Safety legislation and practice including safe working at height
  • Basic programming skills on ETC consoles for events and operation of lighting for production where scheduled and necessary
  • Ability to work as part of a team and under own initiative to ensure smooth operational running of department and show
  • Organised, approachable and enthusiastic
  • Ability to work well under pressure
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience as a lighting technician at a similar professional level
  • Operation of elevated platform certificate
  • Good use of Vectorworks, MLA , Stamp and Lightwright softwares
  • DMX and networking on a lighting system
  • Climbing certificate
