Disney’s The Lion King is currently recruiting for an Assistant Stage Manager to join the backstage team at the Lyceum Theatre in the West End of London.

Responsibilities may include but will not be limited to:
  • Responsible for assisting the Stage Manager in the smooth running of recast rehearsals, ongoing cover rehearsals and performances, ensuring creative team and company are suitability supported
  • During rehearsal perform daily setup, track props and scenery
  • During performance perform daily setup, assist in the maintenance of stage pre-sets and provide clear communication between Stage Manager, Deputy Stage Manager and the crew
  • Maintaining the Production as instructed and dictated by the artistic requirements and direction of the Production
  • Ensuring an awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and making necessary adjustments, if any
  • Assisting with the management of the backstage area during performance, including assisting with scene changes to ensure these take place safely
  • Creating accurate production paperwork where requested and working to ensure the efficient flow of information as necessary for the smooth running of the show
  • Acquiring a familiarity with all plots/tracks within stage management department in order to provide holiday or absence cover for other members of department as required
  • Deputising for the Deputy Stage Manager in their absence, including learning the book and cueing of the performance to provide safe and consistent cover
  • Working in accordance with the Producer’s Health and Safety policy, using appropriate safety equipment and clothing
  • Weekend and evening work integral (Tuesday to Sunday show schedule)
Personal Attributes:
  • The ideal candidate will have relevant hands on experience working in stage management on a busy large scale production
  • Clear, confident communication, detailed orientated and decision making essential
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with cast, creative and production team
  • Ability to remain focused and calm when under pressure
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
  • Highly motivated, positive and organised

Assistant Company Manager – The Lion King, Lyceum Theatre, London

Disney’s The Lion King is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Company Manager to join the team at the Lyceum Theatre.

Job Description
  • Working closely and in conjunction with the Company Manager. The Assistant Company Manager supports the role of the Company Manager on a daily basis
  • Supporting the welfare of members of the Company and carrying out regular dressing room walk rounds and department check-ins within the working week
  • Assisting the Company Manger in liaising between creative personnel, Heads of Departments and Producer to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances
  • Assisting the Company Manager in scheduling performer holiday requests
  • Assisting the Company Manager to organise internal and external events for the entire company
  • Communicating in a timely manner with Senior Manager and Resident Creative team on any day to day changes that might impact the running of the Production
  • Providing payroll information and preparing weekly payroll file
  • Maintaining financial and other records together with good management-employee relations necessary for the operation of the Production
  • In conjunction with Stage Management, assisting in producing accurate rehearsal schedule and securing rehearsal spaces
  • Arranging tickets for company members, and liaising with the international creative team on show watches for upcoming visits
  • Attending weekly Head of Department meetings
  • Deputising in the absence of The Company Manager
Essential Skills Required
  • Transparent and open approach, being able to work well under pressure
  • Organised with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, word, excel and outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills and use of own initiative
  • A full awareness of need for integrity and confidentiality
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production working with an international cast is highly desirable
