Friend of TBB, Victor Adebodun suddenly passed away in April 2018.Â
Adebodun was a director and producer and co-founder of Purple Gecko production company which was behind the popular web series Venus Vs. Mars. Lead by actress Letitia Hector the series about a young woman unlucky in love was picked up by Sky and aired on the pay to view platform’s Sky Living channel in 2015. Adebodun also worked alongside his longtime friend and business partner Femi Oyeniran to bring to the big screen The Intent franchise.
Having made such an impact on the industry, The Edinburgh TV Festival New Voice Awards have named the debut director category after him. The New Voice awards formerly known as ‘The Debbies’ “celebrate the best emerging talent in the TV industry, and reward companies doing outstanding work to nurture new entrants“.
Adebodun himself is an alumnus of the director, producer and Talent Schemes. The debut directors category is for “directors who have received their first professional TV credit in 2018. Episodes must have been first transmitted in 2018 on broadcast TV or made available on a major streaming service or web broadcaster available in the UK. Entrants must be credited as the director“.
