GETTING TO KNOW … The Full Monty’s Talitha Wing

‘The Full Monty’ gang is back after 25 years …

swapping their stage costumes for dognapping, racing pigeons and one very unconventional hostage situation. Gaz might be older but he’s no wiser, and best mate Dave refuses to get sucked into any more of his antics. But when tragedy strikes, the whole Monty gang must pull together for a common purpose: to honour an old friend.

Talitha Wing stars as Destiny Schofield Gaz’s wayward teenage daughter, we spoke to Talitha about The Full Monty and what else she has on her roster …

Please introduce yourself …

I’m Talitha Wing.

What do you do?

I’m an actor, writer and poet.

What are you working on now?

At the moment I am super excited as The Full Monty Disney+ series in which I play Destiny Schofield is airing very soon (June 14th). I recently shot a short film called Mother’s Day written and directed by the incredible Emily Burnett in Cardiff which was an amazing experience, it focuses on themes of mental health and family which are very close to my heart. I’m also filming a role in Wreck 2 for BBC 3. And, I’m working on my first full-length play Left Behind. It’s a busy but thrilling time.

What are you watching?

I am watching Season 2 of Firefly Lane on Netflix. I think it is rare that we see TV shows centred around female friendships. The story shines a light on the complexity of navigating friendship and the beauty of friends as lovers.

What are you reading?

I’m dipping in and out of a couple of books at the moment. I’m reading a non-fiction book called White Tears/Brown Scars by Ruby Hamad and lots of Holly Mcnish’s poetry.

What are you listening to?

It’s still and probably always will be Beyonce’s Renaissance Album. It makes me feel like I can do anything.

Last thing you saw on stage?

I’m going to cheat a little bit on this question because it’s something I saw a while ago but about to see again this week. It’s a play called Es and Flo by Jen Lunn. It has just transferred to the Kiln Theatre in London.

Whose footsteps are you following in?

It’s a mix, I’m absolutely trying to squeeze my feet into the footsteps made by all the incredibly strong women in this industry who have created paths for us to follow. I’m also delicately creating my own footprints, no idea where they will lead but I’m looking forward to finding out.

What’s next?

More playwriting, more poems in my notes app and hopefully lots more acting. Let’s see.
