Award-winning Chiwetel Ejiofor makes a brief appearance in the latest trailer for Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is the follow up to 2014’s Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie as the misunderstood ‘Evil’ Witch/Godmother to Princess Aurora aka Sleeping Beauty.
Maleficent 2 carries on as follows: The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora (Elle Fanning). Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. Aurora’s impending marriage to Prince Phillip (Harris Dickinson) is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds. When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.
Based on the trailer, Jolie’s Maleficent goes toe to toe with Aurora’s mother Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer) in a war over who’ll be best mother to Aurora and Maleficent’s continued distrust of men (a mood!). During this battle, however, it appears Maleficent’s got a whole family or crew of fairies she’s been neglecting and it’s here we see Chiwetel Ejiofor, character as yet unknown, but looking regally magical reminding Maleficent that whilst she’s waging war with the humans, there’s stuff going on in fairy world which needs her attention.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will be released in UK cinemas 18th October 2019.
