Award-winning series ‘In the Long Run’ is inspired by the childhood memories of Idris Elba.
Walter (Elba) and Agnes (Madeline Appiah) Easmon’s life is all about quiet routine since they arrived from Sierra Leone 13 years ago. Working hard to pay the bills, raise son Kobna (Sammy Kamara) as well as support their family back home, their lives are disrupted when Valentine (Jimmy Akingbola), comes to stay, his exuberance and lust for life changes everything. Looking to make a life for himself in the UK, he crashes into their lives bringing laughter, music, and chaos. He quickly finds work, falls in love and ignites a passion for music in Kobna. He may frustrate Agnes and test Walter’s patience but Kobna adores his “funcle” Valentine and after all, he is family.
Created and produced by Elba, series one aired earlier this year, and now Sky One has given the green light for a second series.
Bill Bailey who plays Walter’s best friend ‘Bagpipes’ and his wife ‘Kirsty’ (Kellie Shirley) will also return.
Filming for series 2 is scheduled for 2019.
