Marketing Assistant Job

A fantastic entry-level job into the film industry, supporting the Marketing Director at International Film Sales, Production and Finance company Film Constellation.

The role will include but is not limited to; film festival management, client negotiations, creative briefing and design, marketing logistics, and developing a film’s marketing strategy. You’ll learn the inner workings of the film business, gaining invaluable insight into the strategy and preparation involved in launching a film into the marketplace from script stage to distribution within a tight-knit team, with the opportunity to be in direct contact with festival and market leaders, producers, and distributors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Exact responsibilities will vary throughout the role but the main tasks will include:

  • Being primary contact for festival booking and outreach (sending screeners, negotiating fees etc…)
  • Coordinating logistics for the festival lifecycle of a film (preparing for Cannes Film Festival etc)
  • Supporting with the design and management of sales materials and social media assets
  • Admin updates on our server i.e. streamlining and filing across departments
  • Tracking coverage/reviews and supporting with the creation of post-market reports for producers
  • Reding scripts and watching films, helping develop marketing ideas for the sales strategy
  • Contributing to ad-hoc projects which may include conducting research, analysis and design
  • Preparing for monthly film markets such as Marché du Film (Cannes)  and AFM (booking events etc)

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  • Familiar with design tools such as Premiere, Photoshop and InDesign to create digital assets e.g. GIFs/social content/video clips (existing access is a plus but we can provide otherwise)
  • Experience with managing primary social media platforms (IG, FB, Twitter)
  • A passion for film, interest in the business side of the industry, and a willingness to learn
  • Proactive and enthusiastic about learning, a strong self-starter
  • Ability to work autonomously to deadlines and take initiative in a pressured environment
  • Attention to detail with an interest and ability to understand  the wider industry
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple workloads effectively
  • Ability to work with confidential materials discreetly and responsibly
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively and professionally (written and verbal)
  • Admin and IT skills; confident using Microsoft packages, Google services (Gmail, GDocs) and Mac OS
Desirable:
  • Experience within a creative area welcome (festivals, social media work, design, production etc)
  • Good working knowledge of film and TV i.e. recent launches, directors, actors etc
  • Interest in independent film and festivals beyond Hollywood blockbusters

Acquisitions Assistant Job

A fantastic entry-level job into the film industry, supporting the Director of Acquisitions at International Film Sales, Production and Finance company Film Constellation.

The role will include but is not limited to: tracking and logging new project submissions, scheduling internal and external meetings, doing regular script coverage, coordinating festival and market logistics, and assisting with various production-related tasks. You will have the opportunity to be in direct contact with festival and market leaders, producers, and distributors. Experience in any creative industry is a huge plus, and a passion for film is essential. Strong knowledge of film history, with a good understanding of various genres, narrative structures and storytelling are key.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Exact responsibilities will vary throughout the role but the main tasks will include:

  • Logging new project submissions on the company database.
  • Scheduling internal and external meetings for the Director of Acquisitions.
  • Taking notes during meetings with producers, financiers and talent.
  • Helping read/screen, assess, and feedback on project submissions.
  • Conducting ad hoc tasks as required e.g., research or helping assemble cast/writer/director lists.
  • Assisting with arrangements for festivals and markets, including booking accreditations, writing priority memos outlining key projects to be targeted, collecting reviews to be shared with the team, collecting news regarding key deals during festivals and markets also to be shared with the team.
  • Contributing to ad-hoc projects e.g. conducting research, handling expense reports, occasionally assisting the wider team, and supporting in the preparation for monthly film markets
