The latest film in the G.I. Joe franchise will be released this summer.

Directed by Robert Schwentke (Allegiant) and written by Evan Spiliotopoulos (The Unholy) – Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origin will take the G.i. Joe franchise and start it from scratch as a prequel. The film will follow Snake Eyes (Henry Golding – Crazy Rich Asians) a commando-ninja who after being burnt in action and left mute while on the hunt for the man who murdered his father, travels to Japan and trains with the ancient Arashikage ninja clan. His brother is the Cobra-serving ninja Storm Shadow (Andrew Koji – Peaky Blinders), who is also his adversary.

British Ghanaian actor Peter Mensah (Spartacus, 300) joins the cast as Blind Master, Snake Eyes trainer, and teacher. Blind Master was previously played by Wu-Tang Clan frontman RZA in G.I. Joe Blind Retaliation (2013). Snake Eyes also stars Samara Weaving as Scarlett, and Úrsula Corberó is the Baroness.
