TBB Talks To … Actor Anthony Adjekum

Anthony Adjekum is establishing himself as an on-screen actor …

After leaving school and working for some years, in 2001, Anthony attended North London Drama school Mountview Academy of theatre arts on a scholarship after auditioning for the Tottenham Grammar School foundation scholarship (which offered scholarships for people who wanted to attend drama schools but could not afford it).

Anthony Adjekum is known for The Man Who Fell to Earth (2022), Mood (2022) and County Lines (2019).

We spoke to Anthony about his career so far and what he hopes for in the future …

Please introduce yourself …

My name is Anthony Kwesi Adjekum, I am an actor, writer, and creative from Wood Green, North London. My heritage is Ghanian.

Describe your life right now in a word or one sentence …

Blessed

Tell us about your latest project / your current job, what’s your role in it? How did it come about?

My current project is The Man Who Fell To Earth. This came about while I was on the Set of Nicole Lecky’s Mood. I play a Doctor informing Naomie Harris & Clarke Peters characters that he is cured of something incurable, making it a medical miracle.

In Mood, I play Emeka, A Nigerian mover and shaker with a black book full of Politicians to do business with. Emeka is married to a no-nonsense Woman who knows to let him get on with satiating his desires … seedy brother boy.

Highs, lows, solutions (tell us the high points, any obstacles to getting the project completed and how you resolved the obstacles).

I had many highs, meeting lovely cast & crew members on both projects. I had no lows really … apart from one of the actresses getting covid right before we had to film a scene and everyone having to leave the set there and then.

I wouldn’t call it an obstacle but because the scenes were intimate it was very important for me that everyone involved was 100 per cent comfortable. We managed to make this happen between us and completed the work.
