When a twin girl’s brother is killed she must wake up to a new world without him.

First-time director Veronica McKenzie has captured a treasured Caribbean tradition in her feature ‘Nine Nights‘.
Starring newcomers Mary Nyambura as ‘Marcie‘ and Malcolm Atobrah as her twin ‘Mikey‘, Nine Nights tells the story of twins Marcie and Mikey, aspiring athletes who have an extremely close bond.

When Mikey loses his life in an unexpected accident Marcie struggles to accept her loss. Against the backdrop of the Nine Nights tradition Marcie’s attempt to find peace in her brother’s absence unearths family feuds and strained relationships. Can this family survive this terrible tragedy? Nine Nights also stars Jo Martin (Been So Long), and T’Nia Miller (Years and Years).

Nine Nights along with a post-screening Q&A with Veronica McKenzie screens as part of S.O.U.L. Fest at the BFI Saturday 31st August. Find out more and book your tickets here.
