It’s a rarity that we get to see life through the eyes of young British Black girls ..

However, Rocks a new film set in East London does just that. This phenomenal coming of age story about a group of teenage schoolfriends lead by ‘Rocks‘ a young girl who is unexpectedly left alone to fend for herself and younger brother.

The powerfully emotional film from Sarah Gavron (Suffragettes) brings to life an idea from award-winning playwright Theresa Ikoko who paired up with Claire Wilson to write this truly representational script.

Starring Bukky Bakray, Kosar Ali, D’angelou Osei Kissiedu, Shaneigha-Monik Greyson, Ruby Stokes, Tawheda Begum, Anastasia Dymitrow, Afi Okaidja, Sarah Niles Rocks is in selected cinemas now.

We caught up with stars of Rocks Bukky Bakray, Kosar Ali along with the film’s creator and co-screenwriter Theresa Ikoko to find out more about the process of making the film.
